What Coda does
Coda is padel video analysis for one player: you. You upload a recording of your match or training session, you show Coda which player you are, and it goes through the whole video looking for your strokes. Every stroke it keeps becomes a short clip and, where the camera sees you well enough, a slow-motion technique video with the contact point and the finish measured.
What you get back is material you can use straight away: clips ready to edit in CapCut, action photos from a 4K video, technique videos per shot and a report on your session. We add no effects, music or text to the clips. The edit is yours.
How it works
- Film. One phone or action camera behind the back glass, raised, filming the whole court for the whole match.
- Upload. Upload the MP4 or MOV file. If the camera split a long recording into several files, upload them together. The analysis runs on our servers, so your phone only has to film and upload.
- Tap yourself. Coda shows you a few pictures from the video and you tap the player you are.
- Check the unsure ones. Coda AI looks at every candidate stroke. The clear ones are kept. The ones it is not sure about come to you, so a stroke by your partner does not end up in your clips.
- Get your material. Coda cuts the clips and builds the technique videos and the report. Each shot gets a suggested name (smash, víbora, bandeja, volley and others) that you can correct.
What you get from your match
- Clips for CapCut. One clip per stroke, at the quality you filmed.
- Technique in slow motion. Per stroke: the contact point, the finish and your movement, measured from the video and shown slowly.
- Action photos. The moment of contact as a still, from a 4K video.
- A report. Your strokes by type and notes on your technique, as a PDF.
How to film your match for analysis
Put the camera behind the back glass, in the middle of the court, and raise it so you look slightly down: the far baseline, both side walls, the net and all four players in the picture. Film in 4K at 60 frames per second, in landscape, on a tripod or a clamp, and press record once for the whole match. The details are in two guides: how to film your padel match for analysis and how to film your padel match with a phone.
What to expect
- Coda is in beta. We are opening it to a small group of players in Egypt and Saudi Arabia first, then to clubs and coaches. Things will change as we learn from your matches.
- Your own strokes. The beta analyses the player who uploads: you. It is not a statistics sheet for all four players.
- The far end of the court. When you play on the half away from the camera, you are small in the picture. Coda still looks for your strokes there, but the technique numbers are limited: a measurement it cannot take shows as "not measured" rather than a guess.
- Shot names are suggestions. Close shots are easy to mix up, so check the names. To learn the difference yourself, read bandeja vs víbora vs smash and víbora vs bandeja.
Who it is for
Players who film their matches or training and want to see their own game: which strokes they play, what their technique looks like in slow motion, and clips worth posting. We built Coda in English and Arabic for players in Egypt and Saudi Arabia first. Clubs and coaches come next.
Frequently asked questions
What camera do I need?
A phone that films 4K at 60 frames per second is enough. An action camera works too. Coda takes MP4 and MOV files, and a recording that the camera split into several files can be uploaded together: Coda joins them in order.
Do I need sensors or a special paddle?
No. Coda works from the video alone. A shirt in a different colour from the other three players makes you easier to pick out.
Whose shots does Coda analyse?
Yours. You tap yourself in a few pictures, and Coda follows that one player: your strokes become your clips, your technique videos and your report.
Does it work for left-handed players?
Yes. You tell Coda which hand holds your paddle, and technique tips such as the contact point are mirrored for left-handed players.
Is the shot name always right?
No. Each name is a suggestion from the video, and close shots such as the bandeja and the víbora are easy to mix up. You can correct any name, and your clips, technique videos and report then use yours.
Do I have to wait while it works?
No. A full match takes a while to analyse, and you do not need to keep the page open. We email you when your shots are ready to review and when your clips are built.
Who can see my video?
How we handle your video, and the other players in it, is on our privacy page: what we keep, why, and when it is deleted.
Where is Coda available?
The beta starts with players in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The app and this site are in English and Arabic.
